Insurance in Nashville, Tennessee
Insurance for self-EmployedThe biggest concern I hear from people who are thinking about starting, or already have your own business is the lack of health insurance. What most people do not know is that there are many options available that allow you to have a medical and dental insurance, so a big company without paying the bulk of the premiums. When you go looking for health insurance, you need to know the four main types. * Fee for service. With this plan you pay a percentage of the cost of each visit with doctors. The standard is 80/20 where the insurance company pays 80% and you pay 20%. You must meet your annual deductible, however, before the insurance company begins paying anything. Most deductibles range between $ 200 and $ 1,000. The higher the deductible, the lower your monthly premium. * Health Maintenance Organization (HMO). HMOs usually have no deductible, but you have to make a copayment for each visit. Co-pay usually between $ 5 and $ 20. With HMO can only go to doctors who are members of the HMO. You can select a primary care physician who coordinates your care, which will refer to any specialist you may have to do. * Preferred Provider Organization (PPO). As with the HMO, there is usually no deductible and you have a co-payment for each visit. You should choose a doctor who is a member of the PPO to obtain full coverage. You can go to a doctor who is not a member, but you have to pay more, usually about 20% of the cost. PPOs give you more freedom of choice, but the premiums are generally higher than with an HMO. * Point of Service Plan (POS). It is similar to a PPO, but if you want a primary care physician to coordinate your care you can select one. If you are leaving a company that had insurance then you should check out COBRA. The federal government created the COBRA program for employees and their dependents, of companies with a minimum of twenty employees. If you leave your company, or are laid off, then you may continue your health insurance for between eighteen and thirty-six months. These rates are higher than you have paid in the past, however. Not only have to pay their share of the insurance premium, but also the amount of your employer to pay. For example, a company that was fired from my monthly premium for health insurance have risen from $ 25 to $ 239. If you have a lot of medical bills, this may be well worth the cost. If your spouse has insurance, you should look to get in your policy. Many times not even have to be married. You can add in "Other important coverage. Check with any organizations they belong. Can I get insurance through several writing organizations, as well as my students at the University of association. Some people join an organization just to take advantage of an insurance program they offer. If you look around you will see that almost every field has at least one of the organizations that represent them. Many of these organizations offer some form of health insurance. There are other nontraditional sources of insurance too. The credit union belonging to the offers of cheap life insurance. In fact, give me $ 1,000 life insurance at no cost. One way to find places to go in is to look at your portfolio. What cards do you have there? Clubs, organizations, unions, credit cards, alumni associations and more. There is a discount store for members of my town called Sam's Club. It's like a Costco or Fedco. They offer a dental discount program. Not sure, but for about $ 70 a year you can become a member. I get a discount card I can take to participating dentists, and obtaining the services for a discount. The only drawback is that most dentists in the program are in large cities. I know one person who put $ 2,000 into a bank account before starting his own business. The money would be used for medical expenses. Over the next two years, put another $ 8,000 in the account. I usually go with the minimum coverage, because virtually no health problems. I am in the fifty years, and in the last twelve years I've only been to a doctor once and not taking any medication. The only recurring health problem I have is getting new glasses every five years or so, and the occasional filling. I've always been very healthy and I see this change in the short term. One last note about insurance. If you're going to have customers that come to your home, you should look into liability insurance coverage for reimbursement of medical expenses. I had this several years ago when I ran a photography studio in my house. Fortunately, I've never had to use it, but come one day. A woman was the subject of a portrait and brought his friend, who also had a month in arms. As they prepared, I told the mother that she and her baby can sit in a chair in the room. He pointed to an extension cord very bright orange and told him to be careful. He looked at the bone and said it would be. It then proceeded across the room and tripped over the cord. Visions of his fall from the top of her son went through my head before she caught her balance. Everyone was fine, but I was very glad to have had insurance, just in case. The thing to do, such as self-employed person looking for health insurance, to be creative and look everywhere.
